This web tool can be used to explore the outputs from the eFLaG dataset. The data are set a nationally consistent climatological and hydrological projections for 200 river flow catchments, 588 groundwater bodies and 54 groundwater boreholes covering the UK up to 2080. There is more information about the dataset in the Earth System Science Data paper.
Please note that the files used in this portal are large in size, so we recommend you only view the portal over broadband/WiFi.
There are four views available to explore the data:
- Drought event characteristics (Duration of drought, maximum deficit and total deficit)
- Transient low flows / levels (projections of present and future river flows and groundwater levels)
- Groundwater recharge (projections of changes in groundwater recharge)
- Calibration / validation metrics (evaluation of model performance)
In almost all cases there is a summary of change between the following time periods shown on the map, with each site coloured up to show the percentage change or absolute change.
The time periods are:
- Baseline (BL): 1989–2018 and Near Future (NF): 2020–2049
- Baseline (BL): 1989–2018 and Far Future (FF): 2050–2079.
You can click on the site to bring up a plot to explore the projections in more detail.
All the data behind the portal is available to download from the EIDC data pages.
