Drought event characteristics
Map data downloads
Stations (with metrics):
The drought characteristics assessed are:
- Duration (number of months over which a drought occurs)
- Maximum deficit (the largest magnitude anomaly below the threshold occurring in any month of a drought, expressed as an absolute value of cumecs (river flows) or SGI units (groundwater levels)
- Total deficit (the accumulated sum of all absolute magnitude anomalies across all months of a drought).
The map shows the change in the selected drought characteristic which you can choose to express as absolute change or % change. You can view the change between the:
- Baseline (BL): 1989–2018 and Near Future (NF): 2020–2049
- Baseline (BL): 1989–2018 and Far Future (FF): 2050–2079.
You can toggle through the three drought characteristics and show outputs from each model.
By clicking a site on the map, a box plot is shown where you can view the drought characteristics compared to the observations over the above time slices.
You can toggle through the three drought characteristics and show outputs from each model. The plot gives the option to show each of the RCM-PPE members or remove some — the Portal redraws the plot appropriately.
