These figures show model runs carried out as part of the UK Hydro-MIP, a community model intercomparison for river flow simulation across Great Britain.
Maps show model performance across the 628 core catchments. Different models, metrics and time periods can be selected from the drop down lists. The 'Models' list includes a selection of lower benchmarks (e.g. b1_), the best score from any participating model (ensemble_best) and each participating model. The 'Metrics' list includes key metrics calculated within the Hydro-MIP, with lighter colouring indicating better performance. The 'Periods' drop-down enables choosing between metrics calculated over the calibration period (1980–1999), evaluation period (2000–2019), and whole period (1980–2019).
Timeseries can be plotted for individual catchments by selecting gauged points on the map. Up to 10 benchmarks/models can be included on a single timeseries plot, which will also include observed flows by default. The scale bar below the timeseries can be used to zoom into specific periods or events. Flows can be displayed as linear or log scales to focus on high or low flows respectively.
